Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled and experienced Fitter and Turner to join our team in Centurion. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in CNC programming and lathe operations, with a focus on precision machining and mechanical assembly. The position is within a company registered with MIBFA, ensuring industry-standard benefits and compliance.
Key Responsibilities
- Machining and Operations:
- Operate and program CNC machines to produce high-precision components.
- Set up and operate manual and CNC lathes for machining various parts.
- Read and interpret technical drawings and specifications.
- Mechanical Fitting and Maintenance:
- Assemble, fit, and repair mechanical components and systems.
- Perform maintenance and repairs on workshop machinery, including CNC and lathes.
- Quality Control:
- Ensure components meet specified tolerances using precision tools like calipers and micrometers.
- Conduct regular inspections and quality checks during production.
- Collaboration and Safety:
- Work closely with the production team to improve processes and meet deadlines.
- Maintain a safe and organized work environment, adhering to safety protocols.
Minimum Requirements
- Fitter and Turner qualification or equivalent experience (Red Seal is optional).
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in CNC programming and operation.
- Proficiency in manual and CNC lathe operations.
- Strong knowledge of machining principles and mechanical systems.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings.
- Skilled in using precision measurement tools (e.g., micrometers, calipers).
- Familiarity with MIBFA-aligned workplace standards is advantageous.
Preferred Skills and Experience
- Experience with CAD/CAM software for CNC programming.
- Knowledge of troubleshooting and repairing workshop machinery.
- Understanding of sheet metal fabrication or bending processes is beneficial.
- Excellent problem-solving and organizational skills.
